Despite the continued wet weather, several herbs have been brave enough to put on fresh growth. My stall with have Angelica, Alexanders, Bay, Chives, Lemon Balm, Mint, Rosemary, Sage, Sorrel, Salad Burnet & French Tarragon. All these herbs are culinary.
When cold nights are forecast be very careful with tender herbs such as Tarragon, it is preferable to keep it frost free until the weather improves.
A few perennials are showing new tender growth, however, the soil is far too wet and cold for planting but hopefully throughout March things will improve. Aquilegia, Heuchera, Nepeta, Lupin and Valerian have over wintered well enough to warrant their inclusion on the stall.
Rhododendon shrubs are in full bud and the evergreen climbers are doing well.
